An intern’s farewell

Blog

So you’re still studying, but you need to find a way to separate yourself from the rest of the university cohort. They say that the best way to learn is to be thrown in the deep end and learn on the job which has certainly been my experience whilst interning at WordStorm PR.

Taking on an internship has given me a first hand experience into the real world of public relations. When I decided to apply for the position I hoped to gain a greater insight into what public relations actually involved and to meet some new people in the industry. The experience has honestly been invaluable, and to anyone who is considering an internship, I would highly recommend it. It truly does expose you to the industry and what kind of work is available. Studying is one thing, but putting theory into practice has a number of advantages.

I have been interning two days a week over a three month period. In this time I have been able to see various campaigns evolve, allowing me to gain a greater understanding in regards to project timelines and client liaison. One of the things I enjoyed most was taking part in ‘brainstorm’ sessions. Here the WordStorm team would sit down and discuss creative ideas and plans for new or existing clients. I found I gained most of my insight into industry practices at these sessions.

Everyone here at WordStorm has been very kind, helpful and welcoming which made starting the internship much easier. I would like to thank everyone here for their time spent with me and the direction they were able to provide. All in all, interning at WordStorm has been a great experience and I could not recommend it more highly.

Thanks again,

Signed,

Alex
