In this video I’m going to try and inspire you to come up with an angle around a world event that’s coming up in order to get some mass media attention for your brand. The world event I’m talking about is none other than Easter, which this year falls on the 21st of April. Try and think outside the box. You don’t have to be a chocolate brand or a bakery in order to make the most of this one. Although if you are it’s a bit of a no brainer.
For instance, if you are a bakery selling hot cross buns, two really good angles could be the history behind the hot cross buns and why it’s traditional to eat them at this time. And perhaps you could also release the recipe for your particular hot cross bun. Pitch these angles out to the media and I’m almost certain you will get some cut through. But as I said, you can try and think of your industry and see what link you can make to Easter.
For example, we work with an early education learning centre called MindChamps and the angle we’re utilising is putting out Brian Caswell who’s the early childhood literacy expert. Ideas on which books you can read to your children about Easter. It’s very topical. People want to know this stuff, journos want to produce Easter content at this time and it is being picked up by mass media parenting titles.
So I challenge you, think about your business and your industry. How can you tie it into Easter, brainstorm with your team and with your family it’s very hard to brainstorm on your own. Enjoy the process and I’d love to hear about your success. Thank you and I look forward to seeing you next week.
