ShopBack
ShopBack was on the front page of the AFR on the week of its Australian launch resulting in instant sign ups and brand credibility
ShopBack is a digital loyalty and discovery platform, offering consumers a portion of their cash back when they shop with one of their partnered brands through the ShopBack website or app. The cashback platform operates in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and now Australia.
ShopBack engaged WordStorm PR to publicise the official launch of their website and award-winning app in Australia in May 2018. The aim was to educate Australians on the benefits of cashback and raise awareness of ShopBack Australia, its credibility and its point of difference to existing competitors.
As ShopBack was entering the market with the competitive advantage of a mobile app over existing players, the strategy was to launch into the hot topic of the rise of mobile e-commerce. WordStorm PR immediately secured coverage with an exclusive in the Australian Financial Review, published the day of ShopBack Australia’s official launch. This initial coverage instantly boosted membership and credibility for the brand.
We then targeted consumers through securing coverage on popular programs A Current Affair and 7 Sunrise, which featured interviews with the Co-Founder Josephine Chow and an overview of how shoppers could sign up and save money.
“We are extremely happy that we engaged WordStorm PR to launch our cashback app into the Australian market, from the get-go the coverage was incredible,” says Josephine Chow, Founder of ShopBack.
“Interviews on Sunrise, A Current Affair and The Financial Review were a highlight. We’ve seen mobile traffic go up to 68% which is huge, and quite a surprise! We’ve drove over AUD$1M in sales within our first 10 days of launch!”
